ABOUT ZEBULUM

The name Zebulum is an homage to Zebulon, the tenth son of Jacob.  His father made this prophecy; “ Zebulon shall dwell by the sea; he shall become a haven for ships” Genesis 49:13

It is my hope that my writings will be a haven for all those who seek to know the wonders and joys of the sea and ships.

                                                                                                                           — Captain William "Bill" Pinkney

After retiring from the schooner Amistad as Master, I desired to find a suitable place to live. The two main themes were warm (I was born in Chicago) and water (my love). That place happened to be Puerto Rico, and I've lived there before, and my wife was born there. Fajardo, the "Metropolis of the East," was ideal, and soon I was back on the water thanks to a fellow Chicagoan. As the Captain of a term charter catamaran with my wife Migdalia, we introduce families and individuals to the joys of the Spanish, U. S., and the British Virgin Islands.

Along came Maria and Covid. That put an end to the odyssey. Landbound, for the time being, I decided to put my adventures on paper. Although I've written two books, one a first-grade Basal reading program and the other an autobiography, I felt that young readers ages 8 to 12 should share in the adventure that began for my grandchildren who were about that age when Commitment's Adventure began. So here it is, Illustrated by award-winning artist Pam C. Rice designed for young readers, but it can be enjoyed by all ages.
